PRP is often described as a treatment using your own blood. That description does not tell you whether it suits your skin concern or what result to expect. Before booking, ask for an explanation of the proposed procedure and the evidence behind it.

What does PRP involve?

A blood sample is collected and processed to concentrate platelets in plasma. The preparation may be injected or used alongside another procedure. Ask which method is proposed: PRP is not automatically the same procedure as microneedling or a “vampire facial.”

Set realistic expectations

Evidence for cosmetic skin rejuvenation remains limited and results vary. Ask what improvement is realistic for your concern, how it will be measured and what alternatives are available. A package or treatment count should follow an assessment, not replace one.

Using your own blood does not mean risk-free

Discomfort, swelling and bruising can occur. Infection is possible, and correct blood handling and sterile technique matter. Share your medical history, medicines and any blood or bleeding disorders. Do not stop prescribed medication without advice from its prescriber.
